Frequently Asked Questions

What type of dresses do you sell?

The majority of stock we carry are full priced, made to order gowns. We have a yearly sale where our samples are sold off at huge discounts, prices start at £150. Please get in touch to see what we have available.

How much are the dresses?

Our gowns range from around £1,400 to £3,500.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes please! This ensures you have our undivided attention. We do accept walk ins but to avoid disappointment, please fill in the form on the contact page or call/email us to discuss what works for you.

Can I park near the shop?

Pocklington offers free parking and there are several spots directly in front of Goldie’s Bridal. Please note, Tuesday is market day and parking is limited.

Who should I bring?

Please bring a maximum of 3 people with you due to the current COVID 19 restrictions, and only those who you value their opinion. Although some brides avoid bringing children to their appointments for a stress free experience, kiddos and babies are welcome. We are a family run business and know how difficult it can be finding childcare!

Do I have to pay for my appointment?

All weekday appointments are free. Appointments outside of the opening times, for trunk shows and Saturdays are £10 to secure the booking which is redeemable on any purchase. We also offer a luxury appointment, please see the booking page for more information and select ‘Goldie’s Signature Appointment’ on the booking form.

How long will my appointment last?

90 minutes which is ample time to have our initial consultation, try on gowns and make the final choice with your bridal stylist. If more time is required and the calendar is open, we can continue with the appointment. If not, a second appointment can be made at your convenience. A Goldie’s Signature Appointment allows for more time, and a full two hours is booked out.

What shall I bring?

Please wear underwear and a good strapless bra. Please do not wear fake tan as this can rub off on the dresses. A pair of heels is also a good option and anything else you think you might wear, perhaps a veil that has been handed down from a relative or any hair accessories. These can all help you make the final choice and compose the look you are trying to create.

How long should I allow to get my dress?

The manufacturing process varies between each bridal house but we recommend 12 months. Some gowns in popular sizes are stocked with designers which can be with us in 2 weeks, so don’t panic if you are getting married at short notice.

What’s the process when I have chosen the dress of my dreams?

Apart from celebrating, we will take your measurements and order the dress from the designer. At this point we can talk about any specific changes that could be made when ordering such as a change in colour or adjustment to the neckline. The dress will arrive back in store when it is ready and we contact you and arrange pick up.

Do you offer any seamstress services?

We can recommend two fabulously talented seamstresses who are qualified in making bridal alterations. You may visit them at your convenience.

How do I pay?

You may pay in full at the time, via card/cash/bank transfer. We also offer a payment plan with a 50% deposit and the remaining 50% is to be at 16 weeks. A full copy of the terms and conditions and payment plan can be explained by the consultant at the beginning of the appointment and of course at the point of sale.

Can I take pictures of the dresses?

Yes absolutely!! Please use the #Goldiesbridal.

Do you accept refunds or exchanges?

Allowing 1 hour and a half for your appointment means we have plenty of time to make sure you are 110% on your choice. As the dresses are made to order for you, we are unable to offer a refund or exchange. This is a conversation to have with the manager if the situation arises as we look upon each situation differently.

Can you help me on my wedding day?

Yes, we love these requests! We offer one of our consultants to help you into your dress and placement of the veil on your big day to ensure the dress is not something that is worrying you. This is charged £30 per hour.
